How to e- verify the returns without login to e- filing portal?
A taxpayer can e- verify the returns by logging on e- filing portal of income tax department and after that accessing the ‘e-verify’ option provided under the ‘quick links on the home page of e- filing portal.
For which years can I e- verify the returns without login to e- filing portal?
This e-verify facility can be used for the ongoing assessment year. This means that a taxpayer can e-verify his return for ongoing assessment year.
Requirements to e- verify returns.
The requirements to e- verify returns are as follows:
- The taxpayer should have submitted the ITR for the assessment year and generated an acknowledgement in ITR-V.
- Under the ITR-V, there is an acknowledgement number which help the taxpayer under e- verification.
- The ITR should be submitted by the taxpayer who is not compulsorily required to use Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
- The ITR should not be filed by the authorised signatory or representative assessee.
Steps to e- verify the returns without login to e- filing portal.
A taxpayer can e- verify the ITR by the following two methods:
- By logging into the e- filing portal and selecting the ITR submitted for e- verification.
- By using the ‘e- verify’ option provided under the ‘quick links on the home page of e-filing portal.
- Under the ‘e- verify’ option taxpayer has to enter PAN, assessment year and acknowledgement number from ITR-V.
- After entering these details, the following three options would be available:

- I already have an EVC to e-verify my return.
- I don’t have an EVC and I would like to generate EVC to e-verify my return.
- I would like to use Aadhar OTP to e-verify my return.
- Chose any of the option and enter the OTP received by you.
E- verification is the last step in the ITR filing process. A taxpayer has a period of 120 days. Person can e-verification of an ITR after submitting or uploading it.
A taxpayer can generate EVC through any of the following modes:
- EVC through Net banking facility.
- EVC through bank account number.
- EVC through demat account number.
- EVC through your bank ATM.
